At Saint-Bruno’s church :

Charitable concert on Sunday February 16 at 5 p.m. by the Vocalise choir.

« Misatango » (Martin Palmeri - 1996) and « Misa Criolla » (Ariel Ramirez - 1964),
two works with Latin rythms that quickly became classics.

Proceeds to be given to «Enfants de la terre» (entrance fee : 20€)

Good news

The restoration of the exteriors of the church started on October 1, 2019. It concerns the main and lateral facades as well as the dome and the roofs.
Collectively financed by a generous patron, the French State and the City of Lyon, the works should last fourteen months. They are placed under the direction of Cabinet Architecture et Héritage.
During this period, the visits continue because the restoration work does not concern the interior of the church at all.

HELP US TO PROTECT AND RESTORE THE FOUR PAINTINGS OF THE CHOIR

Why ?

The frames and, at least in one case, the canvas are infested with xylophagous insects. Prompt treatment is essential.
Since these paintings are difficult to access and their removal / installation will represent a significant cost, we would like to take the opportunity to have them restored, especially since they are located in a part of the church that is already restored. They are worth the trouble and the investment.

How ?

Any donation of € 10 or more will receive a tax receipt (66% of your gift is tax deductible in France).
A check should be made out to the order of the Association "Eglise Saint-Bruno, Splendeur du Baroque", to be sent to

ESBSB, 7 impasse des Chartreux, 69001 LYON.

THANK YOU in advance
for answering this call
and relaying this message to your friends who are interested in supporting conservation efforts for heritage monuments.

Which paintings would be treated against insects and restored ?

« The Miracle of Saint Anthelme », by François PERRIER, painted in the period 1625-1629; a classified painting.
The canvas itself is attacked. This is the only one left of 40 paintings by François Perrier for the Chartreuse du Lys Saint-Esprit (Charterhouse of Lyon). François Perrier had also painted, in the small cloister, a cycle of frescoes on the Life of Saint-Bruno, which have now disappeared.

« The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne », the painter was anonymous, French, in 1st half of the 17th century.
The Virgin holds the apple of the Redemption, an unusual representation.

« The Eternal Father »,excellent copy by Jean JOUVENET, late 17th century.
This painting is so well made that it has long been attributed to Noël HALLE who worked for the Chartreuse (his “Baptism of Christ”, classified, is today in the chapel of the baptismal font).

« Saint Andrew being led to his agony », Henri FORTIER, painted between 1640 and 1647, classified and already restored in 1986. It simply needs treatment against insects.
